Bat and the Sun

My fifth illustration related to bat folk stories and tales.
Paraphrased and condensed from the Shoshone story:

One day the sun gets caught in a tree and night continues on long after when the sun should have risen.
The animals all begin searching for the sun high and low.
A squirrel finds the sun and begins gnawing away the branches to free the celestial body. In the process the animal loses it's day sight, it's long tail and it's skin becomes wrinkled and leathery from the sun's intensity.
Once freed the sun thanks the animal, which has become the first bat, saying that in return for it's sacrifices the animal will now be able to fly and, because it's eyes have become too sensitive to the suns light, it will be able to see clearly at night.

Fifth of my bat series. I would like to do another two to make seven but will have to see how I go for time this year.
