My final assignment for Scientific Illustration this term. Having spent a lot of time doing very tight, controlled work it took a lot of courage to just wet the page and let the paint run where it would. Numbats are one of only two entirely diurnal species of marsupial. Their behavior is heavily influenced by their one prey type: Termites.
Waterproof sepia ink, cerulean, paynes grey and burnt sienna watercolours and white gouache, 8.5x11.5" Im contemplating doing this as a print. Anyone interested?
The semi-abstract, freely-running paint of the backdrop contrasts deliciously with the pain-staking detail of the foreground. In the same stroke, the piece has great color harmony because the sky colors pop up in the rest of the piece.
The fur texture of the close-up numbat is simply divine! The colors are very rich there, too. Great work.
I am honoured that the first person that welcomes me and likes my stuff is such a great artist. I never kiss ass. I am just somewhat overwhelmed. The only technique I never mastered is water paint. No control. I control ballpoints. All other media. The thrill is not to make mistakes. You dare to make mistakes. That's admirable.
ooh, gorgeous. i'd have to agree with peachfuzz there, not really anything more i could add. i've always wanted to experiment with watercolours. anyway. and numbats looks kick-ass. i bet they'd make awesome pets, like anteaters.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
