A watercolour test for a illustration assignment. We were given our choice of a children's story to create an image for. I chose the Magic Tinderbox. Which, on adult reading, leads me to dislike the main character very much. But the dogs still intrigue me. Depicting a dog with eyes the size of a cart wheels and copenhagen towers that can still be lifted and placed on a apron is a challenge. I ended up circumnavigating it by using an extreme angle. This is the dog with eyes the size of saucers carrying off the princess on the first night
I love that story - although I admit, the main character is kind of a cad. I suppose you're supposed to admire his resourcefulness? Even though the dogs do everything for him? LoL. Well, this is a fantastic watercolor, chica. Love the dog's face.

He kills the witch (whom we know is a witch - why? because she looks like one!) for not answering his question and kisses the princess without her consent! Misogyny!
^_^ Actually.... Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha and Kouga.... thats three dogs (sorta).... ^_^
A fanfic based on the magic tinderbox could be interesting - Sesshoumaru at your command Eeee! (and icy-angry at the fact that he could be summoned and was trapped in a plebian fire lighting utensil)

LoL. I agree. Those fairy tales can be awful sometimes. It's always the women (usually, step-sisters or step-mothers or *female* witches) are thrown into a barrel with snakes or something at the end. Whereas the kings who ignored their awful wives or daughters or what have you just pat the hero on the back and say, "Oh, that wasn't me at all. So glad you understand. Friends, then?"
A fanfic with the boys of Inuyasha as the dogs? I must admit, it's tempting! Hehe. Could have real fun with that. You would have to change the ending though, so that the princess ends up with one of them... or it'd be a Miroku/Sango story. Hmmmmmmmm. Ideas are swimming around now.

Y'know for the tinderbox you need three dogs... and one with eyes the size of copenhagen towers. The third could be the ghost of Toga ^_^ He'd be big enough (and sesshou could be considered having eyes like millstones in his demondog form)

Nice. He wouldn't have to be a ghost, since it's AU - maybe they're all trapped in the tinderbox as a family curse. I just reread it and I'd forgotten that in this one, the king *does* die, so that'd have to be Naraku... or Ryukotsusei!
I'm liking this idea.

Kag could meet an old woman (or kikyou) who wants the tinderbox for her own purposes, evades her, gets into trouble and tries to light a fire only to summon... etc.
The bit with her being told to lift them off the treasure chests followed by actually meedting them and realising that they aren't really just dogs could be so much fun! Especially if they are shouting to each other from each room since they can't leave without the tinderbox being taken....
Gah! I want to read it but haven't time or experience to write it

LoL. Well... perhaps you'll permit me to do it. With due credit to you, of course. We'll see. It'd be short, and I couldn't do it right now (more like, a few months from now) - but it'd be fun!
